Zero emission vehicle

The emission of hydrocarbons which are generated by the evaporation of fuel in the tank must be minimized in motor vehicles. Background are regulations for the air pollution control and the target for low-emissions (zero emission vehicle).

Therefore an adsorber filter is installed in the fuel tank ventilation. Aim of this activated charcoal filter (AC filter) is to prevent that hydrocarbon vapors escape when the tank is filled. The AC filter is regularly regenerated by means of the engine control to prevent a filter breakthrough. For that purpose the tank ventilation valve is opened and the contaminated air flow supplied to the suction pipe of the engine.

Clean air supply for AC Filter testrigs

For the development and testing of such filters very small air flows are prescribed for the test cycles. This requires precise and easily to integrate  test bench technology.
